The honey bee has two compound eyes and three simple eyes. These simple eyes or “ocelli” are located above the compound eyes and are sensitive to light, but can’t resolve images.
The tiny hairs on their eyes are to help in transporting pollen and aid in determining wind direction and flight speed.
